ABB CEO Morten Wierod emphasized that the global shift toward sustainability will continue to be a key force shaping industrial demand, as industries accelerate efforts to decarbonize and improve efficiency.
Speaking at the China Development Forum 2026, held in Beijing on March 22–23 under the theme “China’s 15th Five-Year Plan: High-Quality Development and New Opportunities,” Wierod highlighted ABB’s role in supporting China’s green transformation through advanced electrification and automation technologies.
“As a global technology leader in electrification and automation, ABB is committed to enabling industries in China to accelerate their transition toward greater sustainability,” Wierod said. He noted that ABB’s innovations are making decarbonization more feasible and economically viable across a wide range of sectors.
According to Wierod, the company is contributing to the green transition through three key pathways:
Improving operational efficiency. ABB leverages automation systems, high-efficiency motors and drives, and advanced industrial software to help customers achieve higher output with lower energy consumption, reducing waste and operating costs.
Accelerating electrification. The company’s technologies are supporting the shift toward low- and zero-emission energy systems, laying the foundation for a more sustainable industrial future.
Ensuring safety and reliability. ABB’s solutions are designed to enhance both environmental protection and asset security, ensuring stable and resilient operations.
Industry analysts note that as China advances its “15th Five-Year Plan” priorities—including building a modern industrial system and accelerating green transformation—technologies that improve energy efficiency and enable electrification will play an increasingly critical role.
