JD Industrial, ABB Robotics and Jasic Technology Partner to Expand Access to Welding Robots for SMEs

Time:2026-04-29 Browse: 0

JD Industrial, ABB Robotics, and Shenzhen Jasic Technology Co., Ltd. have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop standardized welding robot packages, aiming to make industrial robotics more accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in China.

The collaboration introduces a direct-to-customer (DTC) model for welding robots, leveraging JD Industrial’s digital supply chain and omnichannel capabilities. By integrating technology, products, distribution channels, and services, the three companies aim to significantly lower procurement barriers and accelerate the adoption of automation in China’s manufacturing sector.

Under the agreement, each partner will contribute its core strengths. JD Industrial will serve as the exclusive online sales channel, providing digital supply chain infrastructure and access to a broad customer base that includes over 13,000 key enterprise clients and millions of SMEs. ABB Robotics will supply advanced arc welding robot systems and lifecycle technical support, while prioritizing production capacity. Jasic Technology will provide high-performance welding power sources and take responsibility for system integration, standardized testing, logistics, and nationwide after-sales coordination.

The partners plan to boost their market presence over the next three years through coordinated marketing and investment initiatives.

China’s welding robot market is currently experiencing rapid growth. Industry estimates suggest the market could reach between USD 1.16 billion and USD 1.45 billion by 2025, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 10–12%, and exceed USD 2.1 billion by 2033. However, traditional industrial robot deployment has been constrained by long delivery cycles, high upfront costs, and limited service responsiveness—factors that have slowed adoption, particularly among SMEs.

The jointly developed standardized robot packages are expected to combine ABB’s global expertise in robotic automation and software ecosystems with Jasic’s welding technologies and integration capabilities. The result will be a solution designed for reliability, faster deployment, and simplified implementation.

A key innovation of the partnership is the DTC model. Customers will be able to purchase welding robot packages directly through JD Industrial’s platform with delivery times as short as 48 hours. In addition, dedicated experience centers will allow users to test welding applications and receive one-on-one technical guidance prior to purchase, creating a streamlined, e-commerce-like buying experience for industrial robots.

As a leading industrial supply chain technology and service provider in China, JD Industrial has built an integrated digital-physical supply chain system covering MRO, BOM, and spare parts procurement scenarios. ABB Robotics, a global leader in robotics, has operated in China for over three decades, with more than 90% of its robots sold in China manufactured locally. For ABB, this partnership represents its first pilot of a DTC model in the robotics sector in China, marking a new step in its digital transformation and localization strategy.

Jasic Technology, a high-tech enterprise in the welding sector, brings over 20 years of experience in R&D, manufacturing, and global distribution, with products used in major infrastructure projects and exported to nearly 100 countries.

Looking ahead, the three companies plan to establish joint delivery centers integrating R&D, training, and customer experience functions. As digital procurement of industrial products continues to grow, the partners also aim to explore replicating the DTC model in global markets, promoting Chinese supply chain innovation and smart welding solutions worldwide.
