The patent describes a protection device (300) featuring at least two conductive paths (303), each equipped with a cut-off device (310). The device incorporates a microcontroller (320) configured to use a detection unit (312) to measure differential currents in the conductive paths. When a first-type differential fault is detected, the microcontroller sends a trip signal to the corresponding cut-off device.

Additionally, the protection device includes a test loop (360), separate from the detection unit. Using this test loop, the microcontroller injects a first test signal representing a first-type electrical fault into the conductive paths. It then measures the injected signal with the detection unit to verify proper operation.

This innovation enables real-time assessment of differential faults and automated tripping, enhancing electrical system reliability and safety. The patent reflects Schneider Electric’s continued investment in intelligent protection solutions for industrial and power distribution applications.
